Novo Nordisk share price plummets
Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk, saw its share price plummet after disappointing research data on brain medicine.
The Novo stocks took an almost 7 percent hit on Friday afternoon, after the pharmaceutical company published research data from a study of the medicine, ziltivekimab.
The study showed no reduction in the risk of severe cardiovascular events for the test group given the medicine, compared to those given a placebo.
The aim of the study was to research whether the medicine could reduce the risk of heart attacks in patients with cardiovascular disease.
While the study showed reduced inflammation, the researchers didn’t succeed in proving a correlation with lower risk of cardiovascular events.
“Even though ziltivekimab didn’t achieve the reduction in risks of serious cardiovascular events which we had hoped for, it doesn’t change our strategic focus on cardiovascular diseases,” said Novo Nordisk’s head of research, Martin Holst Lange.

Denmark takes over the presidency of the UN Security Council
Denmark takes over the presidency of the UN Security Council in August, meaning it will lead and set the agenda at the council's meetings. The presidency rotates among the 15 members of the Council, with each country holding the presidency for one month at a time.
While holding the presidency, a nation has the responsibility of setting the agenda for and leading council meetings.
In a post on the social media platform, X, Denmark’s foreign minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen said Denmark would use its presidency to push for action, responsibility and solutions with regards to the question about peace and safety.
“War, hunger, and breaching human rights requires more than words,” said Løkke.
The presidency is being handed over by DR Congo and will be passed on to France at the end of the month.

Danish PM and 21 heads of government demand action in Ceuta
Danish prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, and 21 other heads of government have published a joint letter demanding action on the EU’s outer borders.
Together with Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, and 20 other heads of government, Mette Frederiksen in the letter called for action regarding the current migrant situation in the Spanish territory on the coast of Morocco, Ceuta.
"It is absolutely crucial that we have control over Europe's borders. The pressure we’re seeing on the EU's external borders requires an immediate and decisive response. First and foremost from Spain and Morocco," Frederiksen said.
In the letter, the heads of government urge the Irish presidency to call for an emergency meeting of EU interior ministers to take "necessary measures".
This comes after 60,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave last week. 48,000 of the migrants are believed to have returned to Morocco.

The Danish parliament has also called for an emergency meeting about the current situation, however Mette Frederiksen’s party, The Social Democrats, will not support this call.
“Rather than wasting time on bickering in parliament, we believe that the situation should be resolved in the EU,” said Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, who is, among other things, deputy chair of the European Affairs Committee in the Danish Parliament.

Containers and cars lit on fire after shooting incident in outskirts of Copenhagen
From midnight on Sunday containers, cars and a community centre were lit on fire in Tingberg, a district in the northwestern part of Copenhagen.
The duty officer, Nicolai Ullits, describes the events as rough pranks, which lead to police intervention.
As part of the intervention, police shot a 22-year-old male driver of a car during a pursuit in the area. The man is hospitalised and in stable condition.
Stones were also thrown at the fire department, which came to put out the fires, Ullits said.
Nicolai Ullits was not able to say how many people were involved in the incident. No one has been arrested.
No one was injured in connection with the events.

GreenMobility to use driverless cars from 2027
Danes will in 2027 have access to driverless cars, if the authorities give the green light.
The car-sharing service GreenMobility has entered into a strategic partnership with the Chinese company WeRide.
Together they will send driverless cars onto the streets of Denmark in the first half of 2027, provided that the project receives the necessary approvals from the authorities.

A week of warm temperatures and showers
This week we can expect warm summer days with some changeable weather which can lead to rain and showers.
“There will be rain, but there will also be some quite warm days. And then it will be a windier week than we are used to,” said Klaus Larsen, meteorologist at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI).
Monday will be a dry day, which will start with clouds in the sky. They will dissipate during the course of the morning, and we can expect a day of sunshine. Temperatures will hover between 20C and 26C.
On Tuesday, warmer air will move up over the country, but with it will also come more clouds. Expect rain and showers, and maybe even some thunder. The rainy weather should clear up over the course of the afternoon.
Tuesday’s temperatures will be between 23C and 28C
Wednesday’s weather will be similar, with winds picking up over the country.
On Thursday colder air will move across the country bringing down temperatures to 18C-24C. Friday will dip down between 15C-20C but remain dry.
